After completing his primary and high school education in Ankara, he graduated from Dokuz Eylul University Mechanical Engineering Department in 2011. During his undergraduate education, he studied applied physics on photothermal radiometry at the University of Reims in France for 6 months. Having received his Master`s degree from Dokuz Eylül University in 2013, Kökey is still continuing his doctoral education on wind energy at the same university. Iskender Kökey has been working in the renewable energy sector since 2011 and currently serves as the managing partner of his company XGEN Energy, which is engaged in mechanical manufacturing as a subsidiary industrialist in the wind energy sector. Kökey, who carries out her academic and commercial studies on vertical axis wind turbines, has completed her duties as a member of the Izmir Chamber of Mechanical Engineers Previous Period Board of Directors, and a founding board member of the Energy Industrialists and Businessmen`s Association, and an Associate Member of the Supervisory Board of the Turkish Wind Energy Association.

Kökey has been a member of the Board of Directors and Secretary General of Turkish Wind Energy Association (TWEA) since February 2022.
